'Army Wives' Breaks Season Finale Ratings Records

NEW YORK, New York (August 28, 2007) — If teens and tweens love “High School Musical” then women love “Army Wives.” The critically acclaimed drama is Lifetime’s most successful series in the network’s 23-year history. “Army Wives” tells the story of four women and one man who are brought together by their common bond – they all have enlisted spouses. The show ended its first season as it began — by demolishing records. The season finale on Sunday, August 26 at 10PM (ET/PT) became the network’s most watched original series telecast ever when it drew 4.1 million viewers.

Online, “Army Wives” traffic on LifetimeTV.com broke a record on Monday, August 27, soaring 135% over the previous high set on June 3, the day after the drama premiered. Said Susanne Daniels, President, Entertainment, Lifetime Networks: “Thanks to Mark Gordon and Deb Spera, a talented production team, amazing writers and a remarkable cast, ‘Army Wives’ captured the hearts and imaginations of viewers across the country. It is incredibly gratifying when a critically acclaimed show is also a successful show, and we are grateful to the four million loyal viewers who tuned in every Sunday to make this series a huge hit for Lifetime.”

“Army Wives” returns for its second season in the spring of 2008.

First of all: thanks Kelly for posting the article...

And now... the finale... OH MY GOD!
That episode was just awesome!
I can't believe that Joan's pregnant. And I can't believe Roland walked out that * door after finding out.
I do love Pamela's speech on the radio, because her words are so * true! But I'm so sorry for her that her husband is gone again.
And I'm kinda glad that Frank is more human to me now since this episode. You know, I never really liked him until now...
And Trevor and Roxy... God that was cute! SOOOOOOOOO cute. And I was really glad for both of them that Trevor made Roxy say her vows the last second...
And then... the end... OH MY GOD! What a cliffie!!!! But hoenstly if that guy would blow up the bar there wouldn't be a second season... am I right? So we know they will survive somehow... And if we're really lucky they won't give us a complete solution, because I still hope they will push up the timeline and bring at least one of those men back really soon in the next season... *wink*

(from tv guide) " Reveals exec producer Katherine Fugate, "It's safe to say that some people we know won't be returning. There is surprising heroism and lives will be changed." Expect a major fatality when the show returns next spring. "This is a series about war." Fugate says, "and people die."

OMG...now the guessing game begins..who will it be?

Good question... Who will die... I hope it's not Roxy. *wink* But who knows... maybe Claudia Joy... or her daughter... Or Roland because he already proved to be a hero...??? I've really no idea! But I guess, as long as it's not Trevor, I'm fine...

I think it'll be either Roland or Amanda.

I think it will be Amanda...since she walked into the hump bar and was standing behind the bomber...I think she is going to try to save everyone and get killed in the process...just my opinion though...

And I can't believe we have to wait until spring 2008 to find out...gosh that seems like a long time away... :(

Katherine Fugate has posted on her site that the AW first season DVD will come out around February..just in time for season 2. She also said that there will be cut scenes..including the wives singing "goodbye stranger" at the hump bar.
