Billy Campbell and Michelle Trachtenberg have been tapped to star in an ABC Family original movie tentatively titled "The Circuit."

Drew Fuller (Lifetime's "Army Wives") co-stars in the two-hour movie, which is set to premiere next year.

"Circuit" is described as an "adrenaline-charged family drama" in which an estranged father (Campbell) and daughter (Trachtenberg) compete on the stock-car race track. Her star is on the rise, while his once-legendary career is on the decline. Fuller plays the love interest to Trachtenberg's character.

The movie is from von Zerneck/Sertner Films, with the company's Frank von Zerneck and Robert M. Sertner executive producing alongside William Gilmore and Charles Lenhoff. Peter Werner will direct and serve as co-executive producer, with Randy Sutter producing.

"Circuit" was written by Bill Hanley, with rewrites by Quinton Peeplescq and Janet Brownell.

Campbell's credits include "The 4400," "The O.C." and "Once and Again." He is repped by CAA and Sean Fay at 1 Management.

Trachtenberg's credits include "Six Feet Under" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." She is repped by CAA, manager Peg Donegan at Framework and attorney Ira Schreck.

Fuller's credits also include "Charmed" and the feature film "The Ultimate Gift." He is repped by Gersh Agency, Untitled Entertainment and attorney Jeff Bernstein.

Hanley and Gilmore were repped by Lenhoff, their manager, in the "Circuit" deal.

Werner is repped by ICM.

Congratulations Drew...that sounds great!
As I already said in comments area, that's a weird coincidence. I'm writing a fan fiction in which I'm Drew's brother and I'm dating Michelle Trachtenberg!!!

an article from a local paper in nova scotia where they are filming at a race track earlier today..no mention of Drew..but it talks about the filming..

The News

The crew positioned themselves on the back of a truck geared with two video cameras.

In the sweltering heat, the director, also on the truck, gave the cue for the cameras to start rolling. All of a sudden, the truck began to move down the track. Once it left, the mostly local stunt drivers took off in race cars following behind the truck, though they drove no faster than 80 kms/hr.

Those were crucial scenes. That day (Saturday) was the day they filmed most of the action shots to be used in the movie. The stunt drivers raced around the track for hours as the camera crew captured it all on film.

They are, of course, the crew for the made for television movie that was filmed at Riverside Speedway near Antigonish. Tentatively titled The Circuit, the movie is a Vonzerneck/Sertner Films production to air sometime next year on the American network ABC Family. The movie tells the story of a race car driver (played by the O.C.'s Billy Campbell) and his daughter (Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Michelle Trachtenberg), an aspiring race car driver. Father and daughter eventually face each other on the track, and much of the action sequences for the movie were captured that day.

Saturday was the eleventh and last day of filming at Riverside Speedway, though the cast had wrapped earlier in the week. Next, cast and crew will move back to Halifax and complete filming on the movie there.

Though filming is taking place in Nova Scotia, the movie is set in Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina.

sorry for the double post..new article in halifax, NS newspaper..filming is complete on the circuit..which means Drew is heading home...

It's a wrap, but filmmaker anxious to come back
New movie about a famous race-car driver due to air next year
DEAN LISK
The Daily News

It's the last day of shooting, and Randy Sutter is working his way between puddles and film trailers behind the Westin Nova Scotia.

"I'd rather be in Halifax than anywhere else," the producer said, trying to get back inside his trailer before the rain starts. "But, on day's like today, I'd rather be in my house in Palm Springs to be honest."

Yesterday marked the final day of filming on The Circuit, a made-for-TV movie which has been filming in Halifax and Antigonish since mid-July. The ABC movie - described as "an adrenaline-charged family drama" - stars Michelle Trachtenberg, Billy Campbell and Drew Fuller. It is being directed by Peter Werner.

In the film, an estranged father played by Campbell (The O.C. and Once and Again) reunites with his daughter, played by Trachtenberg (Ice Princess and Buffy the Vampire Slayer), to compete on a stock-car circuit.

Race against each other

"He is a famous race-car driver, and he had to leave his daughter behind to be raised by his sister after his wife died 10 years ago," Sutter said. "They sort of reunite, and at the end of the movie they have to race against each other."

Race scenes were shot at Scotia Speedway outside Halifax, and at Riverside Speedway in Antigonish. Between races, Trachtenberg's character develops a love interest in a fellow circuit driver, played by Fuller (Army Wives). A love scene between the two was being filmed on a closed set inside the Westin yesterday.

The $4-million movie is being made by von Zerneck/Sertner Films, with the company's Frank von Zerneck and Robert M. Sertner executive producing along with William Gilmore and Charles Lenhoff. It will air next year.

This is Sutter's 11th film in Halifax, and he hopes to return to make another. He said the rising Canadian dollar - nearly on par with the U.S. greenback - is causing film production costs to increase.

"In our budget world, every penny is about $40,000," Sutter said. "Four or five years ago, it was half a million dollars difference in costs."

He said filmmakers are hoping to see the basic tax credit they receive for filming in Nova Scotia raised from 35 per cent to 45 per cent to help reduce production costs and keep the industry from slowing down even more than it has.

"Halifax is starting to compete with places like Louisiana and New Mexico because, with the rising dollar, it is getting cheaper to film in the States," Sutter said.
