Katherine spoke first talking about meeting Drew and why he has her respect. She said he is not just a pretty face but a very deserving actor. She recalls a scene that was written where Drew really studied the part and brought something totally unexpected to it and that this stands out to her. She said she knew the first time she met Drew that he was Trevor.
Then Drew talked about Katherine and how artistic she is and that during the strike, he thought she would burst into flames if she couldn't write something. He said he likes to pay Katherine as his verbal fluffler (to which I died laughing). He said when he met Katherine, everything out of her mouth is believable because she believes it. He says she has a need to be creative and that he is honored to know her.
He talked about growing up in LA and how it was a sweet genuine place for him. He talked about traveling all over and absorbing other people's cultures. He talked about his grandparents being married for 67 years and his parents for 37 years. He talked about his sister finding her soul mate in college and the news of finding out that he is a uncle. He said he received a call at about 130am that she was in labor and then another call at 250am that the baby was born. This happened January 15th (he said his time table was a little off) and that he has a beautiful niece (I'm pretty sure since he said her) who looks like a glow worm (lol). He said he loves being an uncle. He said while he is home, he visits his parents 2 weekends a month.
He said he is a hopeless romantic. He said he wants to find his soul mate and believes everyone has one out there, but for now he is just having fun.
I asked him about doing another live chat..(actually my exact wording was..what do I have to do to get you do a live chat again?)..Katherine laughs and says, "who drew? nothing!"..and he says nothing too. He said he would LOVE to do it and to get with Kelly on that. He said he is a horrible typer and that the last live chat, he drove down to Newport Beach and had his mom transcribe for him..otherwise it would have taken hours to get it done. He said he loves connecting with his fans that way and would be glad to do it again.
He has spent the last few months focused on traveling. He just returned from a trip not to long ago to the UK and Scotland. He recently came back from an art trip to San Francisco where he purchased a bunch of art.
He talked about how hard it was to play Trevor, to be naive and innocent. I then interjected that I hope we get to see some drama with Trevor this year. He said Katherine has given him bits of what is to happen and it will be beautiful. He talked about how hard the accent was to do and that he would listen to people in charleston to get an idea of what they annunciate. He said in the beginning it was over the top..then through the middle of the season, it kinda disappeared..then at the end of the season it was under control. He talked about having no internet in Charleston and that if he wanted to check email and stuff..he had to go to a coffee shop that had internet service.
He said he has gone through the birthday project from last year and that he is humbled by the fans who have continued to follow him through his career. He said its the most flattering thing in the world. Because of his fans, he does what he does. He also talked about getting mail that was more than a year old from his agent so he said to wait for the fan mail address for army wives and that this would be the best way to contact him.
He talked about other actors saying that 90% of actors he knows is in it for the paycheck. He said the money is nice but that this is his outlet, his way to express himself. Him and Katherine both talked about the oscars and Marion Cotillard winning. He said that if Daniel Day Lewis hadn't won for best actor that he would have to quit...and thank god that he did win so his universe was in alignment again. He talked about his best friend winning a golden globe and being nominated for an oscar before. He said he would work everyday if he could because he loves his job that much.
Ok..the flaunt xmas party in 2005. Right before the party, he had a screen test for 40 year old virgin. He was testing for the cross dressing part. He talked about his friend who is a transvestite and who helped him get read for the part including waxing his legs, using nair on his under arm and chest hair, wearing a dress and the whole thing including the make up. It was down to him and a 6'7" guy and drew ended up not getting the part. But he went to the flaunt party still in make up and said they caught him going in on the red carpet.
It was funny because towards the end of the conversation...he says whoa!! and we are like what happened? He says, "I almost got in an accident." He talked of just having his cell phone and that he doesn't understand why people have land lines. He mentioned that he would be going to the movies tonite to see The Other Broleyn Girl. He said he loves going to the movies and usually does on Fridays.
I told him my story of seeing TUG last year and how it moved me so much that I decided to pack up and move to california and live my dream. He in turn told me that I moved him...and that "if I don't work the next 5 years, you've made it worthwhile Kim." He said he lives to hear this and that this makes his job so rewarding. When I said thank you to Katherine and to Drew for the call (which was over 45 minutes by the way), Drew said, "No, don't ever say thank you to me..let me say thank you to you."
Drew is truly a genuine down to earth guy. He was very open with me from the beginning and told me to ask him anything. I talked about the site and the fans that I have met on here and how we get along so well. He did admit that part of the reason he stopped posting was that he couldn't please anyone with what he had to say and that things he said were taken out of context. I asked him to drop in and say hi now and then and to please post more to which he said, "I promise!" He did give me permission to post this conversation and told me to be his voice for the fansite. I told him how lucky and fortunate I am to meet him (even if on the phone) and wished him continued success. My dream came true today
